Transforming Small Spaces

In Sri Lanka's urban apartments, space is precious. Our approach to small interiors begins not with storage solutions but with spatial strategy — which walls to remove, which functions to combine, and which rooms to dissolve.

Multi-functional furniture is a starting point, not a finish. A dining table that doubles as a desk, a window seat with concealed storage, a bed platform that lifts to reveal a wardrobe — these are architectural decisions, not furniture purchases.

Light is the most powerful tool in a small space. We use mirrors to double perceived depth, continuous flooring to extend sight lines, and concealed lighting to eliminate shadows that make corners feel smaller than they are.

Colour discipline is critical. A single material palette across floor, walls and joinery erases boundaries and makes a 40 m² apartment feel like a single, generous room rather than a collection of tiny ones.

The best rooms we have designed are not the largest. They are the ones where every centimetre was argued for.
